What hardware do I need?
For a toally local setup, using no APIs whatsoever, the requirements would depend heavily on what you plan to run, as language models differ from agentic models who differs significantly from image and video generation models in terms of hardware needs and processing power. A good starting point is a Windows 10/11 or Linux PC, preferably a desktop to accommodate a capable NVIDIA GPU. Aim for at least 8GB of VRAM (RTX 2060 or better is ideal), though this is the minimum—performance and inference speeds will be limited. You’ll also need at least 20GB of free disk space, with more being better, and a minimum of 16GB of RAM, though 32GB or more is recommended. As with most AI workloads, more resources generally lead to better performance.
